The best new mid-size pickup deal this summer is the 2017 GMC Canyon, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The mid-size pickup was the only truck that made the magazine’s top 10 list of vehicles to buy now. To make the list, vehicles have to score high in three areas: declining sales, strong manufacturer incentives and excellent scores in the U.S. News Best Cars rankings.

Current year-over-year sales for the Canyon are down 11.4 percent, which can result in better deals to help clear the pickups off lots across the country. In its report on the Canyon, U.S. News states:

Pickup truck buyers have plenty of good options to choose from, and the GMC Canyon (starting MSRP: $20,885) is one of the best. It offers a potent powertrain, excellent towing capability for a compact pickup, and a classy and high-tech cabin. Those strengths propel the Canyon to a very good overall score of 8.6 out 10 in our compact pickup truck rankings.

In general, dealers have had no trouble selling pickups this year, but the Canyon is an exception. GMC dealers have sold 11.4 percent fewer models than they did over the same period in 2016. To kick start demand, GMC is offering a buyer-friendly lease deal of $259 per month for two years with $3,159 due at signing. For comparison, you’ll have to pay $299 per month for the Toyota Tacoma in most regions, while Honda isn’t even offering any special rates on the Ridgeline.

Over the last year, prices for General Motors vehicles have fallen 1.8 percent, which is the largest drop for any automaker in that timespan. That suggests you’ll have plenty of room to negotiate the sticker price down at the dealership.
