Ford seat suppliers lagging behind demand

Seats for the Ford’s F-150 are harder to get than discounted good seats to a Taylor Swift concert.

Todd Hillyard, a union representative for UAW’s Local 249 – which works from the pickup assembly plant based just outside Kansas City, Mo. – posted to that group’s Facebook page that Ford is facing supply issues from the company’s seat supplier.

“There are still some lingering supplier issues that could cause overtime days to be canceled but the demand is so high for the trucks the company is planning to build every unit the can through the rest of this year,” he wrote.

Aside from seats, frame suppliers have struggled to keep up with demand, but that is a problem soon to reach resolution, Hillyard wrote.

“The second frame plant is producing a small amount of frames but won’t be fully online until November sometime,” he adds. “We are starting to build some regular cab models now that the second frame plant is producing them.”
