Ram Truck’s love letter to Texas is getting a bit of a rewrite with the unveiling of a new special edition option.
The new 2017 Lone Star Silver Edition will be available on Ram 1500 4×2 and 4×4 Crew Cab pickups with short and long box-length configurations. You’ll also be able to outfit it with your choice of a 3.6-liter V6, 3L EcoDiesel or a HEMI V8.
But what sets this truck apart is a series of “premium upgrades” that chrome the truck out, including a new “luxury grille” with chrome surround and chrome wave mesh inserts. Also chrome are the side-view mirrors and wheel-to-wheel side steps. The truck sits atop polished 20-inch wheels. A grille-mounted aluminum Lone Star badge carries the Silver Edition distinction.
The interior of these Silver Edition trucks can be outfitted with cloth and vinyl high-bucket seats.
Ram says the 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition will arrive at dealerships in the fourth quarter with package pricing starting at $900.
Limited and Longhorn upgrades
Ram has also announced a series of upgrades and new options for its 2017 Limited and Longhorn pickups. For starters the Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Laramie Longhorn, Longhorn and Limited trims will receive the 6.4L HEMI V8 as standard equipment. And the Heavy Duty Longhorns and Limiteds will come with Bilstein monotube shocks as standard equipment on 4×4 models.
For 2017 all Ram 2500 models will have the option of a 4×4 off-road package that adds the aforementioned Bilstein shocks along with hill-descent control, limited slip differential, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, transfer case skid plate and fender flares.
Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 Longhorn models now come with a new bright-chrome grille and chrome belt moldings while the 1500 model comes with Keyless Go, SmartBeam headlights and rain-sensing wipers as standard equipment.
Ram is also making black ‘RAM’ tailgate letters a $195 option for the 1500, 2500 and 3500 Limited trim.
