Construction-tough tablets/laptops are having their day. In May, we told you about the Panasonic Toughbook S1, easily handled 7-inch tablet that weighs less than a pound and is made for the rigors of field operation.
Now there's the new Durabook U11 and Sonim UT80, both designed to take on tough jobs.
Durabook
Sometimes you need a laptop. Sometimes a tablet would be better. With the new Durabook U11 you can have both in a single product. At its core the U11 is a ruggedized tablet, but it also connects to a full size 88-key membrane-protective keyboard with backlit keys offering three levels of brightness.
As a laptop the U11 is tested to MIL-STD 810H shock and vibration and IP65 ingress specifications. The keyboard’s built-in handle makes it easy to carry. When detached, the tablet half of the device gives you an 11.6-inch touchscreen display that can be used while wearing gloves and in bright daylight conditions.
For connecting to peripherals, the U11 adds up to three USB 3.2 Gen 1 interfaces and options for one HDMI and one LAN port with a USB Type A connector. Inside you’ll find an Intel 10th Gen CPU, Windows 10 Pro operating system, up to 16GB of RAM, quick-release SSD, and DOD-level security.
