Expanding on its agricultural and forestry presence in Russia, John Deere has signed two construction dealers in the country. One dealer, Agro-Construction Technologies, already serves as a Deere agricultural dealer.
The two dealers will offer an extensive line of Deere construction machines, including skid steers, loaders, backhoes, graders, the 850J crawler dozer and articulated dump trucks. The company is already building a 322,000-square-foot replacement parts center 38 miles southwest of Moscow.
Although this the company’s first extensive entree into the Russian construction equipment market, Deere points out that in the late 1920s and early 30s the company sold a significant number of plows as well as Waterloo Boy tractors into the country — in fact, in 1930 tractor sales in Russia accounted for nearly 10 percent of the company’s total sales.
