Volvo DD31HF and DD38HF Double Drum Compactors

These high-frequency asphalt compactors are powered by a fuel-efficient, liquid-cooled Kubota
44-horsepower (32.8-kilowatt) diesel engine. The Kubota features standard glow plugs for more reliable startups. The DD31HF and DD38HF compactors have operating weights of 6,840 pounds (3102 kilograms) and 8,400 pounds (3809 kilograms), and drum widths of 49.2 inches (1250 millimeters) and 54.1 inches (1375 millimeters), respectively.

Both units feature a large, 79-gallon (299-liter), rotationally molded, polyethylene water tank. This tank provides extended intervals between refills. The standard pressurized water system is dual filtered and equipped with five hand-serviceable water nozzles for each drum. When set to the automatic mode, waterflow is activated only when the machine is in motion ” further extending refill intervals.

To optimize operator comfort and safety, the DD31HF and DD38HF minimize vibration feedback by isolating the operator platform from the frame, separating the vibratory drums and positioning the operator platform on the rear of the frame. The standard deluxe suspension seat can be adjusted forward and backward to increase comfort, and it slides side-to-side to maximize visibility of both drums. The DD31HF and DD38HF also feature a Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS), an emergency stop switch and propulsion control with neutral start for added safety.
