Equipped with an 800-net-horsepower Cat C32 ACERT engine and a radiator with improved heat transfer capabilities, Caterpillar”s 854K dozer replaces the 854G as the company”s largest wheeled dozer for heavy-duty applications, such as mining and bulk materials handling. The 854K”s modular radiator has a copper core for greater heat transfer than steel, and its copper fins are copper brazed for high joint integrity. The core allows removal of a single module without removing the entire radiator, which reduces downtime and lowers repair costs. The new model retains some of the same features as the 854G, including the impeller clutch torque converter, the lockup clutch for direct drive efficiency and the STIC control system for reduced steering and transmission control effort.
