Conexpo 08- Booth 15927- South Hall Perkins offers choice in mid range for ultra-compact engines

Perkins Engines offers OEMs a choice of available power nodes within its range of award-winning 400 Series engines. At Conexpo 08, the company is exhibiting its popular 403D-15T engine, a 3-cylinder, 1.5 litre, turbocharged unit producing 30kW (40.2hp). The engine complements the existing 403D-15 and 404D-15 models, which offer 25.1kW (33.7bhp) and 26.5kW (35.5bhp) respectively.

OEMs wanting to downsize their machines will be pleased to hear that the 403D-15T has an engine envelope of only only 0.18m3  and weighs 156.5kg, reducing quite dramatically any weight penalty for equipment. Improved coolant flows have permitted a reduction in radiator size, so the overall engine pacakge remains very compact. Its improved power density makes it suitable for turf, agricultural, construction and general industrial applications, with peak torque available of 112Nm at 1800 rpm.

As with all 400 Series engines cost of ownership remains a key issue. The 403D-15T maintains the 500-hour service interval periods and competitive sfc that are the hallmarks of the 400 Series. Other OEM benefits include easy changeover, Tier 3/Stage IIIa compliance and a variety of engine options, such as high or low fan position, optional low noise fan and elctronic controlled governing.

Tim Creswell, product manager, says: “The 403D-15T was developed to meet the needs of leading OEMs across a number of applications by offering a new power node. A such, it delivers very high standards in terms of productivity, cost of ownership and refinement, matching and exceeding the specific requirements od those markets.”

“The combination of size, power and reduced weight makes it an attractive option for OEMs looking to not only improve the performance of their machines but also to make them more compact anc manuverable,” he adds.
