Hyundai unveils first of new Dash-9 Robex excavators at ConExpo

The construction equipment division of Hyundai Heavy Industries is taking the wraps off the first model to be revealed in the new Dash-9 series of Hyundai Robex excavators, at ConExpo in Las Vegas on opening day, March 11, 2008.

This pre-production model of the 46,000 lb (21 metric tons) Robex R210LC-9, shows not only the distinctive new styling of the new Dash-9 line, but also contains significant specification and technical improvements which will make the new models highly competitive in the world market.  The complete range has been conceived as a truly ˜global™ concept, to meet the increasingly stringent international legislative requirements, in terms of energy efficiency, safety and the environment . It also retains Hyundai™s legendary values of durability and reliability.

Among the improvements incorporated into this attractive package is an entirely new cab with the accent on operator comfort. This includes reduced noise levels, standard air-conditioning, joystick controls (with lever-pattern change options), a new control panel with on-board monitoring system and a built-in rear-view camera.  The cab environment has been designed with Hyundai™s focus on making the operating experience a satisfying and pleasurable one.

Service access and maintenance have also been given close attention, with the inclusion of remote access via GPS data transfer for service analysis.  As a result of using the highest quality, fine-tuned components, service intervals have been extended to filter changes at 1,000 hours and hydraulic oil changes at 5,000 hours. This particular model is powered by the latest Cummins QSB 6.7 143 hp (107 kW), Tier 3 rated engine, which is exceptionally quiet and clean, meeting all current sound and emission standards.

Optimum use of the available power is the core feature of the new Dash-9 series.   The ˜smart™ hydraulic systems feature new, tough, variable volume high-pressure pumps coupled with an advanced control valve system.  The synergy between the pumps and main control valve offers enormous operational benefits to the operator.  The advanced CAPO system works together with the hydraulic system and the engine to provide power and work mode selections for maximize productivity and fuel economy.  Additionally, working with auxiliary attachments is made easier now that flow and pressure settings can be programmed through the CAPO system from within the cab.

Mr. Eui-Youl Lee, Executive Vice President of Construction Equipment Division, said, The objective of introducing this fundamentally new generation of Hyundai excavators is to consolidate our position as one of the fastest growing manufacturers of construction equipment by providing added value and performance through state-of-the-art technology, and addressing the needs of customers to meet new challenges, especially in terms of energy, environmental and operator comfort.
