SERIES 3 CASE COMPACT TRACK LOADERS

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 22, 2008) ”Case today introduced its new 400 Series 3 line of compact track loaders, which feature clean-burning, Tier III certified engines, with increases in horsepower for all four models. Pilot controls are now standard for all four Case Series 3 machines, the 420CT, 440CT, 445CT and 450CT, and Case is also offering a new cab, with improved visibility and ergonomics.

The 420CT and 445CT Series 3 models features Case 3.2-liter turbocharged engines, while the 440CT and 450CT Series 3 models are powered by a 4.5-liter turbocharged Case engine. In addition to delivering Tier III certification, these new engines provide improved torque, which increases performance across the line.

Comfort in the cab
All of the product testing we do indicates that when equipment operators are more comfortable, they are more productive, said Jim Hughes, marketing manager, Case Construction Equipment. That™s why Case has made improvements to the cab one of its strategic imperatives as it designs and upgrades models.

The new cabs available for all Case Series 3 compact track loaders feature increased headroom and a wider lap bar, along with improved forward, side, rear and overhead visibility. The 445CT and 450CT Series 3 models offer a 20-percent increase in front glass area, while the 420CT and 440CT feature an 80-percent increase.

A suspension seat is standard in the new cab, and a new cushioned lap bar with arm rest and new ergonomically designed control handles provide more comfortable operation. A foot throttle is now standard on all models, allowing operators to easily control RPMs. The hand throttle was relocated on the 420CT and 440 CT Series 3 machines to be the same as on the larger models. A new headliner, backup alarm and horn, footrest, 12v power plug, storage tray and cup holder are now standard on all models. A pressurized cab and air conditioning are also available options on the Case 420CT, as well as the larger models.

New exterior side lighting”a Case exclusive for compact track loaders”provides excellent all-around visibility for nighttime operation. The standard overhead window provides more openings for excellent visibility to the loader arms when the bucket is in the raised position, and the loader tower profile has also been redesigned to provide better visibility when operating. Newly designed grab handles make it easier to enter and exit the machine.

Case continues tradition of easy maintenance
We know that, the easier it is to do routine service checks and maintenance, the more likely it will get done, Hughes said. This is why we have continued the Case tradition of providing outstanding ease of service with the new Case Series 3 compact track loaders.

The new models feature improved oil and fuel filter access, which helps avoid spills and speed up oil changes. A wide-fin side-by-side radiator and oil cooler improves cooling of the machines. The 420CT and 445CT Series 3 models come with a no-maintenance fan belt, while the 440CT and 450CT Series 3 models feature an automatic belt tensioner that maximizes uptime by virtually eliminating the need for adjustments. Battery-disconnect and remote-jumpstart terminals are standard on the 440CT, 445CT and 450CT.

All Case 400 Series 3 compact track loader models are built to start in colder temperatures. A larger, 1125 CCA battery (32 percent more powerful than previous models) and a grid heater are standard. In fact, all four Case compact track loaders have been tested to start unaided at -10 degrees Fahrenheit (-23 Celsius). The massive, heavy-duty radiator and air cooler are sized for high-flow auxiliary hydraulics, as well as operation in extreme temperatures.

One of the key points of differentiation for Case with respect to serviceability, Hughes said, is the grouping of daily service check points into a single location at the back of the machine. The operator or maintenance specialist can check hydraulic and coolant levels with a glance at the respective sight gauges, and the engine oil dipstick and air filter are right there, too. Hughes noted that the new compact track loaders feature the distinctive Case easy-tilt ROPS for fast, easy access to key components when major service is required.

Pilot controls available for all models
Case pilot controls, which are now standard for the four Case compact track loaders, are available from the factory in either H or ISO patterns. Factory-supplied accessory kits are also available through Case dealers to permanently change the pattern from H to ISO or vice versa.

With the H pattern, which is familiar to experienced Case operators, the operator uses the left-hand control to operate the left drive motor as well as to raise and lower the loader arms. The right-hand controller is used to operate the right drive motor and the bucket curl and dump. The fact that the H pattern gives the operator independent control of the ground drives allows the operator to position the machine with greater precision. This is especially helpful when performing tasks such as fine grading.

With the ISO pattern, the drive functions are in the left controller, and the loader arm/bucket functions are in the right controller. This allows for one-handed operation and is prevalent on non-Case machines.

Proven dozer-style undercarriage holds up on slopes
Case compact track loaders incorporate a dozer-style undercarriage with fewer moving parts than competitive designs. An angled track frame and material scrapers decrease mud and material buildup. Steel-embedded tracks roll on rubber instead of steel for a longer-lasting track and a smoother ride. The Rexroth drive motor uses an oversized bearing in line with the drive sprocket to make it easier to keep material out, while increasing component life.

Case compact track loaders require less maintenance and are easier to maintain compared to suspension track systems because we use a rigid track frame with no moving parts, Hughes said.

To further reduce the amount of material and moisture that typically gets into an undercarriage, Case compact track loaders feature a lifetime sealed and oil-lubricated roller and idler system. Duo cone face seals last longer than ordinary seals and reduce maintenance costs. Case compact track loaders also feature dozer-style triple flange rollers with an inner diameter flange positioned between the track tabs to help prevent de-tracking on slopes.

Wide array of options
A single-point lift hook is available on the 420 CT and 440 CT models to facilitate craning these models up or down into building sites. Among other options available on the new Case Series 3 compact track loaders is deluxe instrument panel with keyless start, road lights with turn signals, and a radio with MP3 player.

Additional options for the new Case compact track loaders include proportional auxiliary controls, a detent switch that does not have to be held down for two-speed operation, a demolition door with mar guard, an interior rear view mirror and strobe lights. Optional removable cab windows, solid flex tires, and an industry-exclusive deluxe cloth suspension seat with heater and lumbar support are also now available.
