NEW CASE 1650L CRAWLER DOZER DELIVERS

RACINE, Wis. (Jan. 22, 2007) ” At the 2008 World of Concrete show in Las Vegas, Case Construction Equipment introduced the Case 1650L crawler dozer, the first model in the company™s new L Series dozer line. Innovative features include added power and performance, thanks to an electronic Tier III certified engine, an electronically controlled variable-displacement dual-path hydrostatic transmission, and an eight-roller undercarriage with a hunting tooth sprocket for precise and easy grading.

The 1650L is a completely new machine from the ground up, said Jim Hughes, marketing manager, Case Construction Equipment. In addition to the powerful engine and hydrostatic transmission, it features a new cab design, low-effort electronic blade control and high-performance hydraulics for increased blade speed, superior blade force and precise control.

The 1650L delivers 144 net horsepower (107 kW). The new machine has a six-cylinder, 6.7-liter turbocharged Case Family IV engine with electronic fuel injection for maximum fuel efficiency. A high-pressure common-rail injection system provides excellent combustion. An air cooler adds to the fuel efficiency and reduces emissions.

Hydrostatic drive delivers maximum control

Case designed the hydrostatic drive components on the 1650L for the high horsepower required to push the fullest blades and reduce the number of passes necessary to move material, allowing operators to finish the job faster.

The hydrostatic drive features electronic straight tracking with counterrotation and selectable settings for shuttle and steering for slow, normal and fast control reaction. There are 10 speed settings with infinitely variable steering for maximum maneuverability with counter rotation. A variable displacement dual path hydrostatic drive makes for high tractive effort. An optional winch drive (hydraulic equipment pump with through shaft) is available.

The top performer in the 130-160 net horsepower class

The new single-lever control on the 1650L provides infinitely adjustable steering for precise and easy operation. By tilting the lever right or left, the operator can slow the track on that side to turn the machine. When the lever is completely pushed to the side, the machine will counter rotate in that direction. According to Hughes, the operator can maintain power to both tracks while turning and can push a full load through a turn without losing control of the load, braking or raising the blade.

The 1650L is the industry™s top performing dozer in the 130-160 net horsepower class when it comes to muscling through turns with a full blade, Hughes said. In head-to-head challenges, our customers find it™s an ideal machine for residential and commercial construction, roads and bridges, and utility applications. Operators can also adjust the sensitivity of the steering and the forward/reverse modulation to suit personal preference or application conditions.

With ergonomic controls and wide-open visibility, the 1650L is as productive as it is easy to operate, said Hughes. The advanced hydraulics and steering make for smooth operation, whether doing heavy dozing or finish grading. To boost productivity, the 1650L provides low-effort electronic blade control for simultaneous, multifunction control. The operator can pitch the blade to match the material being worked. The high-performance blade hydraulics have large cylinders that deliver speed and power for optimum control and blade force.

Quiet, comfortable cab

The new, ergonomically designed operator platform offers excellent visibility to the worksite. It™s narrow, modular dashboard gives the operator a direct line of sight to the cutting edge. The cab is isolation mounted from the main frame to cushion against noise and vibration, making for a comfortable ride and increased productivity. The deluxe cab features heat and air conditioning for year-round, climate-controlled comfort. The tapered hood and cowl on the 1650L allow for excellent visibility so it”s easy to gauge material flow under the blade.

Undercarriage delivers precise, easy grading

The undercarriage features a triple-reduction high-capacity final drive with helical cut gears for quiet operation. It has a segmented sprocket for the Case Lubricated Track version and a ring sprocket for the Case Extended Life Track (CELT) version. The optional CELT undercarraige provides outstanding durability and undercarraige life in abrasive soil conditions.

The undercarriage has an eight roller track frame for precise, easy grading. Pinned equalizer beam suspension makes for a smooth ride, maximum traction and positive track alignment. Two track frame-mounted carrier rollers maintain proper track tension. A 49-degree sloping track frame cover, along with ample space between the track and the machine, helps shed material.

Front, center and rear track guides are standard and an optional center rock guard is available. The 1650L dozer keeps 120 in. (3.04 m) of track on the ground with maximum shoe widths of 24 in. (610 mm) on the Extra Long Track (XLT) configuration, 28 in. (711 mm) on the Wide Track (WT) configuration and 34 in. (864 mm) on the Low Ground Pressure (LGP) configuration.

Designed for fast, easy service

Easy service makes the 1650L more productive by keeping it on the job longer,” Hughes said. The swing-out front grill, tilting cab and swing-out access doors mounted on both sides of the engine make daily maintenance, as well as regular service (and maintenance), easy to perform.  The swing-up access doors reduce the time it takes to change the hydraulics and hydrostatic transmission filters.

Operating weights on the 1650L are 35,203 lb (15 965 kg) on the XLT, 36,691 lb (16 640 kg) on the WT and 37,578 lb (17 042 kg) on the LGP. The XLT is ideal for precision grading. The WT provides extra stability and accommodates wider blades for finish grading or slope work. The LGP maximizes flotation in wet or loose soil conditions.

Case offers a complete line of crawler dozers and attachments

In addition to the 1650L Crawler Dozer, Case offers two crawler dozers above 100 horsepower. These include the 118 net horsepower (88 kW) Case 1150K and the 1850K with engine options of 184 net horsepower (137 kW) or 199 net horsepower (148 kW).
