ANDERSON, IND. (December 15, 2009) – E&B Paving, Inc., an Anderson, Ind.-based asphalt and concrete paving contracting firm, was recognized by the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI) with two Quality Pavement Awards at the 2009 APAI Winter Conference. APAI honored E&B in the Airport and Governmental award categories for projects respectively completed at the Anderson Municipal Airport and Ball State University.
Commissioned by the City of Anderson, the APAI award-winning airport project was the final phase of an $8.9 million taxiway relocation effort. E&B provided construction solutions during each stage of the three-year initiative. E&B’s work on the final phase included placing 6,700 tons of aggregate base material followed by 8,700 tons of asphalt paving on the 2,200-foot long taxiway. With subcontracting support from Gradex, Inc., an Indianapolis grading and excavation firm, E&B also moved 60,000 cubic yards of dirt and installed new drainage at the airport.
The award-winning project at Ball State was E&B’s latest paving solution for the Muncie, Ind. university. E&B repaved an existing parking lot and also constructed the lot’s new entrance, sidewalks and handicap-accessible ramps. In total, E&B installed 580 tons of aggregate base, 840 tons of asphalt surface material and 1,420 linear feet of concrete curbing for this project.
“The 2009 APAI Quality Pavement Awards are the latest in a long history of honors E&B has received from our state asphalt association. These awards are testament to the continued professional excellence demonstrated by our paving crews, as well as our entire organization, who work in partnership with customers to devise innovative construction solutions,” says E&B President Gary Stebbins.
