Tier 3 engine boosts power, conserves fuel on new loader

Powered by a Tier 3 engine, the new Komatsu WA600-6 wheel loader boasts 502 horsepower and an electronic control system to optimize vehicle performance. A new high pressure common rail fuel injection system and a new combustion system reduce noise and improve fuel efficiency. The engine uses cooled exhaust gas recirculation and air-to-air charge cooling to meet emissions requirements. Dual mode engine power helps conserve fuel and reduce engine wear. Automatic joystick steering makes operation easier and more accurate. The WA600-6 has a breakout force of 87,230 pounds, a straight static tipping load of 80,645 pounds and a 40-degree turn tipping load of 67,210 pounds. Its standard bucket holds 8.4 cubic yards of material.
