After a mixed bag in their Q1 2026 earnings, major publicly traded U.S. contractors — Granite Construction, Fluor, Skanska and Tutor Perini — are showing improved revenue and income for their second quarters.
Fluor
Revenue for Fluor’s Urban Solutions division, which encompasses its engineering, procurement and construction services, rose 9% in the second quarter to $6.1 billion. Its profit increased 31% year-over-year from $29 million to $38 million.
New awards for the Urban Solutions segment were up 270% to $3.2 billion in the second quarter, and new awards among all Fluor’s business segments were up 245% to $6.1 billion.
Comprehensive revenue among all Fluor’s business segments was up 8.8% to $4.3 billion, and total segment gross profit was up 118% to $170 million. However, net earnings for the quarter came in at $123 million compared to a net earnings of $2.4 billion in last year’s second quarter.
Fluor again did not release a 2026 revenue or profit forecast, but the company did lower its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization forecast from $525 million – $560 million to $500 million – $525 million.
Granite Construction
In its second quarter of 2026, Granite Construction reported revenue rose 33% year-over-year to $1.5 billion, and gross profit was up 20.1% in the same period to $239 million. Granite reported a net income loss of $278 million in the second quarter, up from a net loss of $72 million in the second quarter of 2025.
Powered byFor its construction segment, Granite saw a 28.8% increase in second-quarter revenue to $1.2 billion, while gross income in the segment was up 29.3% to $199 million.
Granite’s materials business also generated an increase in revenue, though it saw a decline in gross profit. In the second quarter, revenue rose 31.7 % to $248 million, while gross profit came in at $40 million compared to gross profit of $45.4 million one year ago.
For its 2026 fiscal year, Granite Construction raised its full year revenue from $5.2 billion – $5.4 billion to $5.3 billion – $5.5 billion.
Skanska
Construction revenue in Skanska’s second quarter was down less than 1% year-over-year to $4.5 billion, while operating income in Skanska’s construction segment rose to $190 million, up 9.5%.
Construction order bookings came in at $7.1 billion in the second quarter, up 23% year-over-year when adjusted for currency effects.
Total revenue in Skanska’s second quarter was up less than 1% year-over-year to $4.6 billion, while total operating income was up 16.8% to $220 million.
For its 2026 fiscal year, Skanska expects its civil construction segment to remain robust across all markets, supported by “demand for traditional infrastructure, public utilities and defense investments.”
Tutor Perini
In its second quarter 2026, Tutor Perini reported $1.6 billion in total revenue, a 19% year-over-year increase.
Second-quarter revenue in Tutor Perini’s civil segment rose 12.3% to $881 million, while Specialty Contractors revenue was up 47.3% to $261.3 million. In the Building segment, seoncd-quarter revenue rose 24.9% to $606.8 million.
Construction operations income for the second quarter came in at $117.7 million, up 54% year-over-year from $76.4 million in last year’s second quarter. Net income attributable to Tutor Perini for the second quarter was up 228.5% to $65.7 million from $20 million.
