Hy-Brid Lifts has introduced the new 19-foot PS-1930, which represents the company’s tallest scissor lift, and it meets new U.S. standards for aerial lifts scheduled to take effect in March.
Along with extending to 19 feet, the PS-1930 is the lightest in its class, at less than 2,000 pounds. It also offers a class-leading platform capacity of 650 pounds and has a working height of 25 feet. To meet the new American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards for aerial lifts, the PS-1930 is rated for indoor and outdoor use and offers new controls for the operator to switch between the two modes. The new standards state that machines used outdoors must be rated to wind speeds of 28 mph; so the outdoor mode limits height, while the indoor mode allows full height. The standards also call for higher platform rails. The company says it was able to meet this standard without using folding rails to fit through standard doors, which will save operators time when moving to different spots. The scissor lift can also fit in standard elevators.
To help operators distinguish between the company’s lifts that comply with the new standards and its older models, Hy-Brid will give all its ANSI-compliant machines a new color scheme. Machines built before the standards take effect are grandfathered in, and some have been concerned that rental customers and others will be confused as fleets will likely have a mix of compliant and noncompliant lifts.
Also new for this scissor is Hy-Brid’s LeakGuard, which the company says provides “110 percent hydraulic fluid containment” to protect floors. Hy-Brid touts LeakGuard as a simpler alternative to multi-tray systems and other methods, and it integrates into the machine.
Hy-Brid said it also made the platform step height 10 inches lower than comparable models in its class. The platform is 60 inches by 24 inches and has a 30-inch slide-out extension.
The PS-1930 is 69.5 inches long and 30 inches high. It has a stowed height of 74.5 inches. Its wheels are larger than previous models, at 4 inches by 12 inches, and provide low ground pressure, the company says.
