The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has provided more than $45 million in grants to programs that offer construction craft training for at risk youth. Called “Youthbuild,” the grants offer job training and leadership skills to more than 3,000 students between the ages of 16 and 24. In addition to providing job training, the program will produce more than 700 homes for low income families.
