Komatsu has introduced its latest pair of Dash-11 excavators, equipped with new engines that provide more power while not requiring diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) or a selective catalyst reduction system (SCR).
The new PC1250SP-11 and PC1250LC-11 excavators are powered by 23.15-liter, 758-horsepower Komatsu SAA6D170E-7 engines with two diesel particulate filters to meet Tier 4 Final emissions regulations.
The new engine provides 13 percent more power than the engine on previous models and features a new Power+ work mode. Power+ can increase productivity by up to 8 percent without negatively impact fuel consumption thanks to improved engine/hydraulic pump control efficiency.
The engine also features auto idle and auto idle shutdown which helps reduce fuel consumption by limiting extended idle time.
Komatsu says the machines are suitable for a broad range of applications including sewer and water, general construction, mass excavation, mining, quarry, sand and gravel.
The PC1250LC-11 operating weights vary between 269,300 pounds and 275,240 pounds. The PC1250SP-11 operating weights vary between 259,960 pounds and 265,900 pounds.
Both excavators also feature a new, larger cab with several new features that improve operator comfort and safety. The cab is 3.5 inches wider than other current Dash-11 excavator cabs and is 2 decibels quieter than previous models.
Inside, operators will find a standard high-back and heated air suspension seat with adjustable armrests, two 12-volt power ports and a sliding front window and large skylight.
Other new cab features include:
- Upgraded, high-resolution, 7-inch LCD color monitor with a new updated default split-display mode showing KomVision camera display and key gauges.
- Standard KomVision 4 camera system provides a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding area for improved operator situational awareness.
- Auxiliary jack to connect MP3 players or other digital devices for playback through the standard stereo speakers.
- Operator ID system-records KOMTRAX machine operation and application data for up to 100 individual ID codes.
- KOMTRAX Plus Version 2 telematics enables expanded fleet monitoring via satellite and wireless LAN. Users can analyze “machine health” and performance from a remote location, on a near-real time basis.
Komatsu has also outfitted these two machines with several new features designed to simplify maintenance.
- Engine air/oil/fuel/KCCV filters are grouped together in the front of the hood for easy maintenance access.
- Electric fuel priming pump
- Reversible hydraulic fan to clean out debris from the coolers
- New battery master disconnect switch with lock out/tag out provision
- New hinged A/C and fuel cooler swing open for improved access to hydraulic oil cooler core
- Rear-facing maintenance walkway light illuminates rear of machine for maintenance at night.
- New hydraulic filter sensors monitor restriction and trigger warning indicator in the monitor. Hydraulic filter restriction data is also monitored by KOMTRAX.
- Tie off anchor points are integrated into the booms and arms for use with service technician restraint harnesses.
As an available option, customers can equip the machines with a hydraulically-powered ladder that provides easier access to the machine cab and left-side walkway. This option will also be available as a field installation kit.
The machines also include complimentary scheduled factory maintenance (engine only) for the first 2,000 hours or three years of the machine’s life through Komatsu CARE. This includes a 50-point inspection at the 500-, 1,000- and 2,000-hour service intervals. The DPFs are also covered for complimentary changes for the first five years at an exchange interval of 4,500.
