Peter Kiewit Sons’, one of the nation’s largest construction, engineering and mining contractors, recently selected John Deere Construction & Forestry for its Manufacturer of the Year award. Neal Ferry, corporate equipment manager for Peter Kiewit Sons’, said John Deere was chosen from more than 400 manufacturers and dealers because of its superior effort in helping Kiewit achieve new levels of performance and productivity with its equipment. Award candidates are nominated by Kiewit district managers based on criteria that focus on excellence in equipment and service. Deere is a major equipment supplier for Kiewit’s I-25 Southeast Corridor Transportation Expansion project, which will reconstruct 17 miles of two interstate highways while adding 19 miles of light rail transit line. Other factors that contributed to the award include fast delivery of new units, trade-in consideration on selected units and an efficient process for handling requests.
