Tiger Equipment partners with Tacom
Tiger Equipment recently joined Japan’s Tacom Trading Company to bring Tacom’s brand products into U.S. distribution under the Tiger brand name. Tacom has been on the U.S. market for years, manufacturing and labeling for Stow Manufacturing, Chicago Pneumatic and Dynapac. Some of the products in the Tiger line include mortar and concrete mixers, centrifugal and trash pumps and mini skid steers.

MMD Equipment undergoes company changes
MMD Equipment announced the company is undergoing changes in an attempt to offer more products and better service. A few of the changes include changing its name (formerly Mitsui Machinery Distribution), expanding its customer service center and financing options, moving its corporate headquarters to allow for more space and introducing a number of new products.

Formation of Engineering Import Group announced
Former Charles Machine Works CEO David Woods has announced the formation of Engineering Import Group, a global import company that will specialize in component and material sourcing for manufacturing companies. The company will specialize in sourcing projects and connecting manufacturers in the United States to manufacturers in Taiwan, Japan and China.

Rental chain opens tool and equipment branches
National rental chain HSS RentX announced the opening of tool and equipment rental branches in Longview, Texas, and Oakland, Calif. The company hopes the expansion will help it gain a foothold in the metro market. Additional branches in Virginia and Colorado are expected to open by mid-year.

Bush appoints Caterpillar chairman to council
President Bush recently appointed Glen Barton, Caterpillar’s chairman, to the President’s Export Council. The council includes 28 members from the private sector who advise the president on government policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance while promoting export expansion.

Schwing appoints operating officer
Schwing America recently appointed Frank Thiele the company’s chief operating officer. As part of the position, Thiele will be responsible for engineering, logistics, manufacturing and purchasing from the company’s line of equipment. Thiele brings a strong background in manufacturing and a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering to the position.
