Toyota, Kenworth unveil hydrogen-electric T680; 10 trucks slated for testing

Toyota, Kenworth, UPS, the California Air Resources Board, the Port of Los Angeles and Shell recently met at the Port of Los Angeles for the unveiling of the first Kenworth-Toyota Fuel Cell Electric Truck, the first of 10 zero-emissions Kenworth T680 test units that will haul cargo at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and throughout the L.A. Basin.

The trucks are being funded by a $41 million grant from CARB to the Port of Los Angeles as part of the Zero and Near-Zero Emissions Freight Facilities (ZANZEFF) Project.

Wirtgen debuts new cold recycler, concrete pavers at Bauma

The Wirtgen outdoor Booth at the recent Bauma trade show in Munich was chock full of new iron for contractors in the paving business. It was also the first joint trade show with John Deere, and the Deere folks brought a dozen or so U.S. sourced construction machines to the booth, not necessarily to sell in Europe but to test the waters and show the Europeans what the brand was all about. Deere, which previously had no paving equipment of its own, bought Wirtgen for $5.2 billion in 2017.

Pettibone intros Traverse T1258X telehandler with 12,000 lbs. capacity, sliding boom

Pettibone has expanded its lineup of traversing boom carriage telehandlers with a 12,000-pound capacity model.

The new Traverse T1258X is powered by a 117-horsepower Cummins QSF Tier 4 Final Diesel engine and has a specified lift height of 58 feet, 6 inches. Maximum forward reach is 47 feet, 10 inches. Pettibone says this machine is the farthest-reaching in its lineup.

Gehl launches the RT255, its largest radial-lift track loader

Gehl has brought its largest radial-lift track loader and the newest addition to its Pilot Series, the RT255, to North America.

The track loader features the industry’s first seat-mounted joystick, the company says. The hydraulic pilot control joystick is designed to move with the seat to reduce operator fatigue and provide a smoother, more comfortable ride. Mounting the joystick controls to the seat also gives the operator more legroom.

Prinoth debuts the Raptor 500, a monstrous—yet gentle—land-clearing carrier vehicle

Alongside the launch of the company’s latest crawler carrier, Prinoth recently introduced a new addition to its Raptor lineup of land clearing carrier vehicles at the Bauma 2019 show.

The new Raptor 500 is powered by a 9-liter Cummins engine delivering 430 horsepower. Prinoth says the machine achieves the lowest fuel consumption among competing models and delivers all 430 hp of engine power to its attachment.
