$2 million in quick release emergency relief money being made available for Iowa flooding victims
Two million dollars in quick release emergency money is being made available to the Iowa Department of Transportation to reimburse the state for work done on federal aid highways immediately following the recent flooding there, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced on July 27.

FEMA: North Dakota disaster assistance at $50 million
FEMA reports that more than $50 million in federal and state disaster assistance has been approved through grants and low-interest loans for North Dakotans with losses during the spring flooding. Of the $50 million, $48.1 million has been approved for individual assistance in the areas of temporary housing, essential home repairs and other assistance.

Do not get discouraged if you receive a letter from FEMA indicating you are ineligible. Read the letter carefully -- all the way to the end. Legislation signed to restore coverage for S.C. contractors
In a signing ceremony in Conway, S.C., on July 18, Gov. Nikki Haley officially signed into law S. 431, legislation to address the South Carolina Supreme Court ruling on Crossmann Communities vs. Harleysville Mutual (Crossmann) case. For months, Carolinas AGC and its members worked to get this legislation passed that will protect contractors from potentially going out of business. The signing ceremony was held at the Conway Recreation Center, which is being constructed by Carolinas AGC member Dargan Construction
