At ACT Expo 2024, Volvo showcased its L25 Electric Compact Wheel Loader. Despite being powered by a 48-volt battery, Volvo CE Product Manager Darren Ashton says the L25 shares many similarities with its diesel counterpart.
These similarities, coupled with a two-year/2,000-hour full machine warranty and an extra four-year/3,000-hour powertrain warranty, make servicing the machine easier, he says. The maintenance-free electric motors with auto shutoff reduce wear, and the fully electric driveline cuts hydraulic oil use in half.
When it comes to operation, the L25 features an articulation joint that makes riding over rough terrain easier. Additionally, the front of the machine self-levels when lifting loads, so the operator does not have to worry about correcting the angle of the bucket.
When it comes to runtime, the Volvo L25 should last an entire workday. It comes with a 6kW onboard charger, charging cable, plug and adapters, and optional fast-charging capabilities designed to deliver up to 2,500 full charge cycles.
