Closer Look: Bobcat’s Largest, Most Powerful Compact Track Loader, the T86

Transcript

The Bobcat T86 compact track loader represents the company’s largest and most powerful CTL.

In the video above, Mike Fitzgerald, Bobcat marketing manager, gives us a tour of the CTL at World of Concrete 2025.

The 105-horsepower loader weighs 12,393 pounds and can run a variety of powerful attachments like snowblowers, cold planers and forestry drum mulchers, with its max flow of 42 gallons per minute. The loader has a rated operating capacity of 3,800 pounds.

It offers three hydraulics settings of standard, high and super flow. The engine meets Tier 4 Final emissions regulations without the use of a diesel particulate filter.

Three workgroup response settings allow operators to adjust the joystick sensitivity between slower, smooth movements for precision operations and for faster lift and tilt functions.

Other features on the T86 include:

  • Larger, higher capacity radiator and a cooling fan.
  • One-piece, sealed and pressurized cab designed for low noise and low vibration.
  • 5-link torsion suspension undercarriage.
  • Rearview camera.
  • Heated air-ride seat.
  • HVAC.
  • Ergonomic controls.
  • Clear Side cab.

It's popular for the operations and guys that need to move larger quantities of materials or running the larger planers, you know, you get up to a 40-inch planer, you need that extra flow and capacity from the auxiliary hydraulics. We do have the super flow to fit that.

00:00:33:00 - 00:00:59:28

Mike Fitzgerald

Hi, I'm Mike Fitzgerald with Bobcat Company. We're standing alongside the T86, which is our largest, track loader in the family of track loaders that we offer. And it is a machine that weighs in at over 12,000 pounds. And has a 105-horsepower engine. So good performance for bigger jobs and bigger applications where they need to move more material, lift more material, and run attachments.

00:00:59:28 - 00:01:21:00

Mike Fitzgerald

So we do have, hydraulics on here. We have standard flow of high flow as well as a super flow for the hydraulic system. So depending on what they're doing with an attachment here on the front, we've got, greater on the front, but we can run planers, forestry cutters, things of that nature on it. And that's where they see the, the big benefit on having the high flow or super flow.

00:01:21:00 - 00:01:46:23

Mike Fitzgerald

So on the outside of the machine, we do have what we call a five-link suspension in our undercarriage. So that is, a torsion type suspension that will give a better ride on the machine. So they're again lowering, fatigue for the operator as well as minimizing impact and vibration to come back into the machine. So from a longevity standpoint, all your, wiring harness, the tube lines, things like that, like a better one.

00:01:46:23 - 00:02:10:03

Mike Fitzgerald

The machine is riding better. It separates the carriage from the frame of the machine. So isolating those bumps and and hard areas hold it the outside before it gets into, the main frame and again up into the cab. Things of that nature. The engine is, 105 horse Bobcat engine, that kind of horsepower running high pressure common rail through it.

00:02:10:05 - 00:02:31:13

Mike Fitzgerald

We do have a setup where it does not have a diesel particulate filter, so we don't have to run. That is, again, with 100 plus horsepower. We do have DEF fluid. That's used with the selective catalyst system. So anything over 75 horses basically requires that. But that is in here. But it's an inline engine. We try and provide good access to that.

00:02:31:13 - 00:02:50:15

Mike Fitzgerald

We do have the, the upper structure here in the radiator oil cooler that lift up to allow you to get in, for service access on things in the engine compartment area, easy access to the fuel filter and air filter for those things that more frequent maintenance. This machine has got more standard equipment than some of the other machines do.

00:02:50:15 - 00:03:09:02

Mike Fitzgerald

So again, in the cab, you've got the heated air ride seat, you've got joystick controls, and then our joystick controls there are selectable for control pattern. So you can go from what we call an ISO pattern or an H pattern, depending on what your preferred method of operating is. This machine does have a power Bobtach on it.

00:03:09:02 - 00:03:27:21

Mike Fitzgerald

And there again that that Bobtach is operated via switch in the cab. So if you have a bucket set of pallet forks, something you don't have to have any hydraulic hookup on. You don't have to get out of the machine to disconnect and connect up the next, attachment. This machine also has, heat and air conditioning.

00:03:27:21 - 00:03:51:25

Mike Fitzgerald

So you've got ventilation up top on the cab, as well as one down here in the lower area. So you have your dial throttle here for engine RPM if you want to keep it at a lower RPM for most of your operating, but then want to increase RPM at certain times, you can use the full throttle. So we give the operator the ability to run either way with the full throttle, or he can set it on his dial and and keep it at one throttle setting too.

00:03:51:26 - 00:04:10:20

Mike Fitzgerald

So a lot of different things they can do inside this machine does have Bluetooth radio capability, and that is in the panel here. So they can operate the radio from the panel. And it's a touch screen makes it easy for them to to work that. So on here you've got your wiper and washer, your Bobtach up and down.

00:04:10:21 - 00:04:39:26

Mike Fitzgerald

Your ride control is set up on that here on this. This is bucket leveling. You've got, reversing fan that is available as an option. So you can turn that on, on or off people that are in the forestry cutting business where they're doing mulching with the big forestry cutters, they really like this size machine because, again, it gives them 40 gallons a minute flow plus on the super flow and the pressure they need to run those cutters.

00:04:40:04 - 00:04:56:09

Mike Fitzgerald

And then the back as we talked about cooling, it's got the cooling capacity to cool the hydraulics. As they're running those high auxiliary flow and high-pressure attachments that generates a lot of heat cooling system. They can accommodate and, work with them on that.
