GMC has announced estimated performance specs on the 2014 Sierra Denali when paired with the available 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V-8, calling it “the most powerful pickup truck engine on the market.”
Though official SAE power figures will be announced later in the year closer to the truck’s fall release, GMC says the engine will deliver an estimated 420 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. With that power, GMC expects the Sierra Denali to enjoy a maximum estimated towing capacity of 12,000 pounds. Not too shabby for a “light-duty” truck.
A 5.3L V-8 is standard for the Denali, producing less horsepower at 355, but better gas mileage with an EPS-estimated 23 mpg on the highway.
GMC says the Sierra Denali’s 6.2L V-8 will also be available for Sierra SLT models this fall.
GMC’s announcement also delved into some of the exterior design features of the truck like the Denali-specific chrome grille, 20-inch chrome wheels and polished stainless steel exhaust.
Inside, the Sierra Denali features a Bose sound system, heated and cooled leather front seats and steering wheel and front and rear park assist. Plus the truck features a customizable eight-inch driver display between the speedometer and tachometer in addition to a second eight-inch display in the center console. The driver’s display shows settings, audio and navigation information.
The Sierra Denali will be also be available in a Z71 off-road package and a Driver Alert package that includes Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and Safety Alert Seat Technology.
