Townsends Inlet BridgeCape May County (New Jersey) Bridge Commission Chairman Patrick Rosenello, who is also Mayor of North Wildwood, is considering the use of E-ZPass on five county toll bridges—Middle Thorofare Bridge, Grassy Sound Bridge, Townsends Inlet Bridge, Corsons Inlet Bridge, and Ocean City Longport Bridge—to make it easier for drivers to pay tolls, The Press of Atlantic City reports.
“The tolls that we collect on the bridges cannot cover the operation of the bridges,” Rosenello told the news agency, adding that tolls do not factor into the costs of bridge repairs and that going to E-ZPass would mark a significant change. “The chief complaint, the No. 1 complaint, from customers on the bridges is the lack of E-ZPass.”
Rosenello told the news agency that he has been working with the South Jersey Transportation Authority and a toll consultant, studying the possibility of using E-ZPass, but any change to the tolling structure would take time.
