The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has opened an office in Ottawa, Ontario, in order to be close to the Canadian Parliament and the seat of Canada’s government. The organization hopes to raise the profile of the equipment manufacturing industry in public policy issues and assist companies doing business in or with Canada. “We recognize the added value to our members of having active representation in key international capitals,” said Dennis Slater, AEM president. “By increasing our industry’s presence in Ottawa, our association is strengthening its public policy position in Canada.” The new office will focus primarily on government affairs, while other association programs such as statistics, technical and safety services, education and training programs and workforce development will be coordinated through AEM’s Milwaukee headquarters.
