Equipment Dealers Assoc., Team SI offering free webinar on “programmatic advertising”

The Equipment Dealers Association (EDA) and Team SI, an Arkansas-based marketing firm, are teaming up to offer the final of three free seminars that can help with focus on program buying.

The webinar, Programmatic Advertising and Why it Matters, is free for dealers and will be presented at noon (CST) on Tuesday, July 17.

“Programmatic buying isn’t just efficient—it leads to more sophisticated and targeted marketing campaigns. As audiences embrace new digital devices, the rules of brand engagement are evolving,” EDA says in a press release.

Michelin acquires off-the-road tire, track maker Camso for $1.45B

Michelin has acquired Canadian off-the-road tire and track (OTR) maker Camso, with plans to establish a new, industry-leading combined OTR division.

After clearing regulatory hurdles, Michelin will pay $1.45 billion for Camso, which was founded in 1982 and reported sales of $1 billion in 2017.

As part of the deal, Michelin will combine its OTR division with Camso, and is moving all OTR decision making to Camso’s headquarters of Magog, Quebec, Canada. All OTR management teams and the top executive will work out of the Magog office, Michelin says.

Heavy equipment search engine Machinio acquired by marketplace network Liquidity Services

Machinio, a startup with designs on being the Google of heavy equipment, has been acquired.

Liquidity Services, a company that operates a network of e-commerce marketplaces in more than 500 product categories, says it has paid $20 million for Machinio. The purchase consists of $18 million in cash and another $2 million in restricted stock issued to Machinio’s executives.

Another $5 million could be paid to Machinio should the company reach certain financial targets in 2019.

We profiled Machinio in a piece last year examining the growing landscape of online equipment services. Machinio has offices in Chicago and Berlin and was started in 2013 by co-founders Dmitriy Rokhfeld and Dan Pinto.

Foley Equipment goes solar with Cat Microgrid system

Caterpillar dealer Foley Equipment, based in Kansas, is going solar with a new microgrid that could save $23,000 in energy costs in its first year alone, the dealership says.

Foley Power Solutions, which is a division of Foley Equipment, recently completed a solar microgrid on the roof of the company’s Kansas City facility. Foley Equipment provides solar, microgrid and energy storage systems to customers throughout Kansas and northwest Missouri.

Caterpillar offers a full range of Cat Microgrid systems from 10 kW to 100 MW. And CAT says its BDP module offers state-of-the-art energy conversion and storage technologies.

After 1,100-lb. boulder falls from dump truck, Minn. contractor charged with 4 counts of vehicular homicide

A Minnesota landscape contractor was charged Friday with four counts of vehicular homicide after an unsecured boulder weighing 1,100 pounds allegedly tumbled from his dump truck and rolled over an oncoming car, killing two women in a Twin Cities suburb.

Joseph P. Czeck, 33, of Hastings, Minnesota, is charged with two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide for causing a collision and then leaving the scene of an accident July 9 in Rosemount, about 25 miles south of St. Paul.

He is charged with two additional felony counts of vehicular homicide through gross negligence.

Using a search warrant, police arrested Czeck two days after the crash at a relative’s house in the nearby city of Inver Grove Heights, where they found the truck in an outbuilding.
