N. Carolina DOT assists with traffic control around Christmas Town, USA

imageThe North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is again helping with traffic flow in the McAdenville area, a.k.a. Christmas Town, USA, this month during the town’s 61st year of its Christmas light show.

The free attraction began Dec. 1 and continues through Dec. 26, running 5:30-9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5:30-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“The best time to avoid the heavy traffic is to visit Monday through Thursday,” says Christmas Town committee member Steve Rankin. “Heavier traffic is typical on Friday and Saturday nights.”

NCDOT has put message boards on Interstate 85 providing alternate routes and exit closing schedules for nearby motorists. The department says motorists are to expect delays and slow downs in the area.
