On July 1, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) awarded 55 contracts for construction and maintenance projects statewide totaling $171.3 million, wrdw.com reports.
GDOT told the news agency that eight contracts totaling $72.6 million will go toward bridge replacements across the state. Approximately $36.8 million will go toward 20 road resurfacing and maintenance projects statewide.
In addition, almost $15 million was awarded for safety improvement contracts, including more than $9 million in guardrail replacements on state roadways and $3.5 million in signing and striping upgrades on local roads.
Information about schedules, lane closures, and detours will be released by GDOT in advance of the construction projects.
