Georgia DOT awards 55 contracts for construction, maintenance projects statewide

Detour Road Closed constructionOn July 1, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) awarded 55 contracts for construction and maintenance projects statewide totaling $171.3 million, wrdw.com reports.

GDOT told the news agency that eight contracts totaling $72.6 million will go toward bridge replacements across the state. Approximately $36.8 million will go toward 20 road resurfacing and maintenance projects statewide.

In addition, almost $15 million was awarded for safety improvement contracts, including more than $9 million in guardrail replacements on state roadways and $3.5 million in signing and striping upgrades on local roads.

Information about schedules, lane closures, and detours will be released by GDOT in advance of the construction projects.
