The Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National academies is conducting a webinar covering moisture susceptibility of warm mix asphalt technologies on February 26.

TRB says the webinar is set to cover all of the sections of its National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 763: Evaluation of the Moisture Susceptibility of WMA Technologies and will provide an overview of the NCHRP Project 9-49: Performance of WMA Technologies: Stage I – Moisture Susceptibility.

The session is scheduled from 1-2:30 p.m. February 26. The first hour will consist of presentations from Amy Epps Martin and Edith Arambula from the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, with the last 30 minutes set aside for a question and answer session.

Topics to be covered include:

  • How to compare and contrast laboratory and field performance WMA and hot mix asphalt (HMA) in terms of moisture susceptibility
  • Guidance for explaining how WMA and HMA moisture susceptibility evolve with time
  • How to identify anti-stripping agents and other mixture components in order to minimize moisture susceptibility of WMA
  • Applying guidelines to preclude moisture susceptibility in WMA during mix design

Advanced registration is required and there is a fee of $89 for non-TRB Sponsor or non-TRB Sustaining Affiliate employees. Individuals who attend will receive a certificate for 1.5 Professional Development hours.

Registration information is available here.
