North Texas Tollway Authority’s Procurement Department receives Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award

The North Texas Tollway Authority’s Procurement Department has received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award from the National Procurement Institute. This is the first time the NTTA has received the AEP award.

This annual award is earned by organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria. The criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.

The NTTA Procurement Services Division, which is a part of the NTTA Finance Department, obtains the goods and services required to operate and maintain the NTTA’s roadway system and operations.

“It’s critically important that our customers and stakeholders know we’re spending our dollars responsibly on procurement opportunities,” said NTTA Director of Procurement Felix Alvarez in a written statement.  “This award is a testament to the fiduciary integrity of the NTTA and a professional validation of the procurement staff’s effort to improve the procurement function for internal and external customers.”

The NTTA Board of Directors acknowledged the award at its monthly meeting Wednesday.

“Under the leadership of Mr. Alvarez, the NTTA procurement division has helped shape the plan and timeline for the procurement of major consultants by the conclusion of 2012,” said NTTA Board Chairman Kenneth Barr.  “This is one example of how the NTTA has made progress not only in its operations and in transparency, but also in serving the North Texas region well.”

The NTTA was one of only 38 governmental agencies (including cities, counties, special districts and state agencies) in Texas and one of 29 special districts in the entire United States to receive the award.
