A construction worker has been killed and a truck driver was injured following the collapse of an overpass in Cincinnati, Ohio, according to NBC News.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated, but city officials are calling it a “workplace accident.”
“Something went wrong and a tragedy has occurred,” Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black told NBC News.
According to the Cincinnati Fire Department, construction workers were preparing the demolition of the old Hopple Street overpass when a “pancake collapse” occurred causing a section of the bridge to crumble onto Interstate 75.
The collapse killed one construction worker and injured a truck driver. Police say the truck driver is lucky to be alive, but he is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.
