The latest generation of John Deere 6R Series tractors introduces new comfort, control and performance features to deliver “the strength of a larger tractor” in a compact, agile package, the company says.

The manufacturer also introduced an updated version of its value-focused 6M Series tractors, as an alternative to the premium 6R Series.

Available in four frame sizes and 15 models, the 6R lineup is built to handle a wide range of tasks from tilling, planting and baling to hauling and loader work. Deere suggests customers work with their dealer to determine the right combination of power, comfort, hydraulics and technology for their needs.

The updated cab offers added space and visibility, while suspension and steering improvements enhance ride quality and handling, according to Deere. The CommandArm with CommandX controls provide a more intuitive operator experience, both in the field or on the road.

A new e19 power-shift transmission delivers smooth shifting and performance in demanding applications, the company says. A selection of transmissions allows operators to match the tractor to their preferred driving style and workload.

The high-capacity closed-center hydraulic system supports heavy loader work and provides consistent attachment performance in row-crop applications, according to Deere.

Additionally, the MY27 6R introduces a new loader design, combining increased lift capacity with advanced technology, including integrated weight sensing, position awareness and optional camera views. These enhancements help operators move more material with fewer trips while reducing waste, the company says.

A built-in controller also makes it easier to add options in the future, like loader suspension, lighting, hydraulic implement unlatch and expanded tech packages.

Additional features include:

  • Full-frame construction provides stability and reliability, even under heavy field loads and frequent loader work.
  • Intelligent Power Management automatically delivers extra horsepower when load or PTO demands increase, unlocking up to 40 additional horsepower for a maximum 305 horsepower on the MY27 6R 260.
  • Powertrain enhancements help the tractors deliver smooth power, quicker operation and improved fuel efficiency in field and transport applications.
  • Built-in connectivity and precision technology increase productivity and provide real-time performance data.
  • Over-the-air software updates and automation features help reduce manual input and keep the tractor current.

"The 6R updates give you the flexibility and strength to handle demanding jobs without jumping to a larger tractor," said Anne Anderson, marketing manager for the John Deere 6 Series tractor line. "It is built to give you the right power with better efficiency, more ease of use and consistent performance in the right size when you need it."

MY27 6M: Lower-Spec Solution

As part of its expanded tractor lineup, Deere also rolled out updates to the 6M Series, providing customers with a lower-spec solution that complements the premium 6R tractors.

Touting “dependable performance” and “flexibility” in configuration, the updated 6M lineup offers scalable technology, including integrated connectivity and precision ag capabilities and simple, yet efficient, power with the new e19 power-shift transmission. Options are consistent with those seen in Deere’s in larger tractor lineups, and include G5 CommandCenter display options and the CommandX drive lever.

"By updating the 6M Series tractor lineup, we are ensuring we meet the needs of a diverse group of operations," Anderson said. "With the MY27 updates, we continue to deliver power and versatility in a dependable daily tractor that can handle the jobs you give it."
