A worker on a construction site in East Harris County, Texas, fell 30 feet down a shaft into an underground well station, and the sheriff says it might not have been an accident.
At 7:40 a.m. July 13, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the site where a 46-year-old man was pronounced dead after falling into a 30-foot-deep shaft that leads to a well station, according to a Facebook post from Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
“It’s possible the man was pushed,” Gonzalez posted.
The next day, the sheriff followed up on Facebook with more details that caused his suspicions.
“Detectives determined the victim (46) was in a physical altercation with a co-worker when he fell 30 feet into an underground well station,” he posted.
The Sheriff’s Office has turned over its initial findings to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
He added that the investigation continues and will be presented to a Harris County Grand Jury for review.
No arrest has been made, he said. No further details have been released.
