A construction worker on a Connecticut jobsite was killed last week during a trench accident involving a saw.
According to a report from WTNH TV, 57-year-old Antonio Simoes was killed on the morning of June 25 while working as part of a Manafort Construction crew on a project at Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford.
Police and Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials tell the station Simoes was working “in a trench using a gasoline-powered saw to cut a water main when the saw kicked back and caused a fatal cut to the his neck.”
Manafort released a statement saying its “safety team” was conducting its own investigation. Simoes had been with the company since 1996.
