The 2018 Ford F-150 is tops in the ½-ton segment among consumers who participated in the 2018 J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.
Other APEAL award winners this year include the 2018 GMC Sierra HD and the 2018 Honda Ridgeline. Charts below show how other pickups placed in the ½-ton, heavy-duty and mid-size categories.
Conducted annually, the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study measures owner satisfaction with the design and driving dynamics of new cars, trucks, SUVs and vans. Verified owners who take part in the study have owned their vehicles for at least 90 days.
Vehicles are rated on overall performance and design; performance; comfort; features and instrument panel; and style.
The APEAL Study, now in its 23rd year, is based on responses gathered from November 2017 through February 2018 from nearly 68,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2018 model-year vehicles who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The study complements the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study and, according to J.D. Power, it guides consumers in their purchase decisions and helps manufacturers to design and develop more appealing vehicles.
