No replacement for big displacement?
After a 2017 F-150 XLT 4×4 with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost got some help from Brew City Boost, which included a methanol injection, the truck repeatedly ate up the ¼ mile drag at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minn. and reportedly beat a ZL1 Camaro, Hellcat Challenger, C5 Corvette and others.
Video below shows the F-150 shaming these cars during BIR’s Wednesday Night Drags, a weekly event that allows anyone with a valid driver’s license, a helmet (Snell 2010 or newer) and a street legal vehicle to try the drag strip, autocross or drifting.
Brew City Boost posted its time slip on Facebook (shown below). A respectable 12.429 seconds at 108 mph in the ¼ mile is not exactly slow, especially from a pickup.
Still, if you watch the video, it looks like competing drivers were off to a slow start against the F-150. The Hellcat isn’t exactly known for being sluggish. Car and Driver reported that a 2016 model finished the quarter-mile “in 11.7 seconds at 126 mph, with the car’s massive supercharger whining like a hive of angry bees the entire time.”
Road and Track reported that the Brew City Boost-tuned F-150 was running “on E50 fuel and with 18 psi of boost.”
