Ram announced today that it will be offering an off-road package for the 2017 Ram 2500 4×4 pickup.
The news came at the Chicago Auto Show just a few minutes before Ram unveiled a new 2017 Power Wagon.
Off-road success has been growing for the Michigan-based automaker especially in the wake of its highly-acclaimed 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel, “Four Wheeler” magazine’s pickup of the year.
“Rebel opened a lot of eyes to what a factory designed, factory tested and factory warrantied off-roader can be,” Bob Hegbloom, head of Ram Brand FCA North America, explained from a stage inside the Business Center of the McCormick Place complex.
“It’s a solid start, but not the whole story. Because once the Rebel is joined by the trucks we’re going to introduce here today, it will define Ram as America’s off-road truck leader.”
And with that, the new 2017 Ram 2500 4×4, equipped with the automaker’s new off-road package, drove out onto the stage.
“This new for 2017 option package makes it easy for customers to add essential equipment to nearly any ¾-ton Ram 4×4. All powertrains, all trim levels, all paint combinations, short and long wheel bases,” Hegbloom said.
Ram’s 2017 2500 4×4 off-road package, which will be available later this year, includes performance tuned Bilstein shocks, hill descent control, a limited slip differential, all terrain tires, tow hooks, a transfer case skid plate, 4×4 off-road graphics and fender flares.
“Because they are loaded up with all their gear, their vehicle of choice needs to perform equally as well, whether it’s camping, fishing, running ATVs, or rescuing someone else’s pickup,” Hegbloom said.
