Ram issues recall of pickups over fire concerns

Updated Nov 16, 2014

Chrysler said on Wednesday it would recall more than 300,000 Ram trucks over a potential fire hazard.

That problem affects 381,876 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs equipped with Cummins diesel engines from model years 2010-2014. More than 314,00o of the recalled trucks will come from the U.S., according to Ram.

Ram says a fuel-heater housing could overheat and cause fuel to leak, but Chrysler says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the potential issue.
