Inside the automaker’s massive SEMA 2017 booth inside the Las Vegas Convention Center Tuesday, Ford debuted a powerful new F-150 designed by Vaughn Gittin Jr.
Gittin Jr. is known not only for being a world champion drifter but also for creating the Mustang RTR in 2010. Now Gittin Jr. has brought the high performance and sport styling the Mustang RTR is known for to the F-150.
The 2018 Ford F-150 RTR Muscle Truck is a modified 4×4 Lariat SuperCrew with a low, wide stance and a special exterior package that incorporates an RTR grille with lighting, fender flairs, deck lid appliqué and tailgate. The truck also features a skid plate and bumper protector for off-road travels.
The truck is powered by a modified 5-liter V8 delivering 600 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed transmission. The powertrain also includes a Magna Flow performance exhaust.
Ford says the chassis features enhanced travel coilovers and rear dampers, an extended double wishbone suspension system, a heavy-duty rear axle, payload maximizer springs and Currie Enterprises full floating hubs.
The F-150 RTR Muscle Truck rides on RTR Tech 6 off-road wheels wrapped in 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.
And this isn’t just a one-off build. Ford says like the Mustang RTR, the F-150 RTR Muscle Truck will be available at Ford dealers across the U.S.
