Toyota unveils 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro race truck

Updated Nov 24, 2016

Though we were particularly taken with the adorable 1966 Stout 1900 at Toyota’s SEMA boot this year, the show stopper for most others was the automaker’s new race pickup.

The 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro race truck you see above will race in the 2017 MINT 400 desert race next March in Las Vegas. It was built by Camburg Racing and packs a 4WD drivetrain with Multi-Terrain Select and crawl control. The truck is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 and features a suspension with Fox 2.5-inch coilovers with remote DSC adjuster along with front and rear Fox 3-in. bypass shocks with rear piggyback reservoirs.

“The Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck is the most badass Tacoma we’ve developed,” says Toyota trucks spokesman John Myers, “The Mint 400 represents the most robust example of desert racing. It’s an excellent proving ground for this special build.”
