Wacker purchases GHI

Light equipment manufacturer Wacker has bought Ground Heaters, Inc., a maker of portable hydronic heating equipment and indirect-fired air heaters that distributes its products in North America and Europe.

“We have been looking for an acquisition to expand our product offering and in Ground Heaters we have found the perfect fit of quality product and innovative technology,” said Christopher Barnard, president and chief executive of Wacker.

The Prinoth Panther XL and its trailer haul supplies to the Norwegian Polar Institute's research station in Antartica. The institute recently placed an order for 10 more of the extreme crawler carriers.

The 45,240-pound tracked carrier and its trailer can haul up to 150 tons over snow and ice on multi-day journeys.
