Continental Tire modernizing Illinois plant

Continental Tire has broken ground for a $17.8 million, state-of-the art tandem mixer at its Mt. Vernon, Ill., tire-manufacturing facility. Installation of the tandem mixer is part of a $60 million to $70 million capital investment program to modernize the plant. The mixer will process 1 million pounds of rubber per day.

“While many U.S. manufacturers are focusing their capital investment dollars overseas, CTNA is making a substantial investment in this innovative technology to assure the long-term success of the Mt. Vernon facility,” said Alan Hippe, president and chief executive of CTNA.
