Concrete block being measured

What steps can concrete industry professionals take to add performance engineered concrete mixtures (PEM) to their arsenal of quality assurance tools?  Experts at the National Concrete Pavement (CP) Technology Center have an answer:

Performance Engineered Mixtures for Contractors, a recently published 7-page tech brief written by Peter Taylor of the National CP Tech Center, provides guidance on properties, processes, and recommended tests for the laboratory and the field.

The detailed information on which tests are available to gauge workability, air void system, unit weight (density), strength development, and transport qualities will be helpful to those who want to rely more heavily on prequalification tests, the center says.

The brief also lists recommended tests for quality control and acceptance by the agency involved. To view the new PEM tech brief, click here.
