Four transportation companies honored for worker safety programs

Transportation construction companies from Indiana, Louisiana, Wisconsin and Florida are being honored recognized for their outstanding corporate worker safety programs.

The American Road & Transportation Builders Association  (ARTBA) presented the awards during its National Convention in New York City.

The awards:

Less than 500,000 hours
First Place: Brooks Construction of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

500,000 to 1 million hours
First Place – Tie: Barriere Construction, Metairie, Louisiana. and Kraemer North America of Plain, Wisconsin.

More than 1 million hours
First Place: Superior Construction Company Southeast, Jacksonville, Florida.

Representatives from each company made presentations at the convention to a panel of industry professionals.

Finalists were selected based on objective information provided to ARTBA that demonstrated outstanding safety performance. Judges chose two finalists in each of three categories, based on employee hours worked during the previous year, to compete for the award during the association’s meeting.

Winners were selected based on demonstration of key principles of safety excellence including management commitment, employee participation, incident investigation, auditing, planning and risk assessment.
