The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has selected Jim Tymon to become its seventh executive director.
Tymon was named during the association’s annual meeting in Atlanta September 20-24.
Tymon, who is currently AASHTO’s chief operating officer and director of policy and management, joined the association in 2013. Chosen after an intensive, nationwide search, he will assume his new role when the current executive director, Frederick “Bud” Wright, retires December 31, the AASHTO Journal reports.
In that article, Tymon calls AASHTO a great association.
“I believe in the issues we stand for and I love working for the state DOTs,” he says in the Journal article. “They are the ones that build, operate, and maintain the facilities that are the backbone of our transportation system.”
