The California Department of Transportation reports that U.S. Highway 101 lanes through Santa Barbara opened January 22 following mudslides, but some off-ramps are still closed.
Lanes are open between Milpas Street and State Route 150 in Ventura County, the agency says.
State Route 33 remains closed from Fairview Road north of Ojai to Lockwood Valley Road in Los Padres National Forest. It won’t reopen until at least the first week of February, Caltrans says.
Caltrans crews worked around the clock seven days a week to clean Highway 101 from the mud that began covering the road January 9.
At least 20 people have died in the mudslides, which affected 30 square miles. Hundreds of houses have been damaged or destroyed.
