Kan. DOT, KTA receive state asphalt paving awards

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) reports that 26 asphalt paving projects were nominated for the 2017 Kansas Asphalt Paving Association awards program that took place on December 7, 2017 in Lawrence. KDOT and the Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) were honored in the following categories:

  • Director’s Award – First place: KDOT and APAC-Kansas for the US 400 project in Cherokee County.
  • Director’s Award – Second place: KDOT and Venture Corp. for the US 83 project in Haskell County
  • Overlay 1-Inch or Less Award – First place: KDOT and Venture Corp. for the US 281 project in Russell County.
  • Overlay 1-Inch or Less Award – Second place: KTA and Shilling Construction for the I-35 project in Sedgwick and Butler counties.
  • Overlay Greater than 1-Inch Award – First place: KDOT and APAC-Kansas for the US 36 project in Decatur County.
  • Overlay Greater than 1-Inch Award – Second place: KDOT and Shilling Construction for the K-156 project in Ellsworth County.

“We are proud of our excellent roadways here in Kansas and at KDOT,” said Transportation Secretary Richard Carlson in a press release. “It is fitting that our talented KDOT workers are recognized for their dedication to quality.”
