Colorado DOT contractor injured in I-25 work zone accident

road work cones constructionA Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) contractor was injured after a vehicle struck the worker’s vehicle in a work zone on Interstate 25 near Johnstown, according to a report by the Greeley Tribune.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours when the driver of a 2011 Ford Escape traveled north on the southbound section of I-25 closed for construction. The Escape struck the worker’s Ford F-350.

The truck wasn’t occupied at the time, but did strike the worker after it was hit.

The driver of the Escape, a passenger and the road worker sustained serious injuries, according to Colorado State Patrol Tripper Nate Reid. He indicated drugs or alcohol are suspected to be involved.
