The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) has recognized three contractors for worker safety efforts across their programs as part of the group’s Transportation Development Foundation (TDF) Contractor Safety Awards. Presentations were made during ARTBA’s recent national convention in Philadelphia.
The awards program is designed to “promote worker safety and health as core values of the transportation design and construction industry,” ARTBA says. The group rates finalists on their rates of recordable Occupational Safety & Health Administration incidents, corporate safety culture, safety plans and worker training efforts. Finalists also make presentations to an industry panel during the convention before winners are selected.
The 2015 winners in the three categories include:
500,000 or fewer hours
Hardman Construction, Ludington, Michigan
500,001 to 800,000 hours
Branch Highways, Roanoke, Virginia
800,000 or more
Superior Construction Company Southeast, Jacksonville, Florida
